Sundiode is developing a new semiconductor-device technology to more efficiently convert sun light to electricity.
Nanotechnology – coupled to the materials science of the III-Nitride semiconductors – is at the heart of the Sundiode technology. The new techology enables excellent spectral matching to the solar radiation, accomplished by highly optimizable band-gap engineering via flexible composition of the compound semiconductor. An advanced device architecture – the other crucial component resulting from the adoption of nanotechnology – leads to high efficiency in solar electricity generation. Sundiode intends to produce CPV-compliant, nanotechnology-based solar cell devices and bring them to the market place in the near future.
